A PSCORE source reported on August 30, 2010 that Kim Jong-il arrived in Tumen City in the morning hours between 9am and 10am, local time.
However, it is unknown where Chairman Kim proceeded to go next. Kim’s arrival by train was accompanied with a series of strict security measures, including closing windows in surrounding buildings and residences.
Locals are presently not allowed to look out their windows or to go out. Armed police officers are regulating traffic around the train station, prohibiting vehicle transit in front of the station or even parking in the area. The train station is currently barricaded with white No Trespassing marks.
The railroad between Tumen and North Korea is reported to be escorted by armed police officers and military personnel. An inspection team from Shenyang had already visited the city five days ago, and the visit is presumed to have been in preparation for Kim’s visit. Shenyang is the capital of the Liaoning Province in Northeast China.
Although the exact date of Kim’s departure from Tumen is not yet determined, it is expected that Kim’s return to North Korea is imminent.
